4 Sept. It is a sad day. Prof Anand Nayak, a former Jesuit and a professor of Indian philosophy and culture in Switzerland expired early this (4 Sept 09) morning in New Delhi.
Prof Nayak had settled in Switzertland. There he was teaching Indian philosophy. Every year, he used to bring his students for an Indian exposure.
Prof. Nayak was to take a group of his students to Leh-Ladakh. Since the flight was delayed by a day, he could not fly on that day (3rd Sept) to do the ground work for his students-visit.
In stead, he was to leave early this morning (4th) for Leh. As he was on his way to the airport in the wee hours, his auto-rickshaw was hit by a truck. That was Prof Nayak’s end. Though he was taken to hospital, doctors could not revive him. And we lost him.
Prof Nayak had a very lively / palpitating heart for the poor. He helped many in alleviating their poverty and pain. I was in touch with him on a regular basis for some time; he wanted me and some of my friends (besides many others) to help him in his desire to reach out to needy people.
But when the final call came, Prof Nayak was helpless!
Prof Nayak has brother Fr Rossie Rego, a Jesuit, and Sr Dolores, a religious sister in religious leadership circles.
May God grant him eternal rest, and comfort to his family.
This is really sad news. I got a call from my mother who informed me of this news. After many years, I spoke to him on the telephone as he visited my mother’s home in Mumbai just before he left for Delhi.
Life is so precious and one never knows what will happen next. One moment we are here, the next moment we are gone!
May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his near and dear ones.

I couldn’t believe the news when I heard it.
I was a collaborator here in Switzerland (not Austria, by the way) for the Sadhofi, the association he created to help families in India.
I cannot help but wonder what will become of it now that he’s gone…
We will all certainly miss him a lot.
Nobody will be able to fill the “emptiness” he’ll leave behind.

It was a shock to hear that Anand had died. Still now I can hardly believe it! I am an assistant in his Sadhofi project, got to know him in January 09 only in a Sadhana seminar but still in this short time he became a real friend to me. He was for me the embodiment of a real good person with a wonderful good hard. I admired and loved him.
Like Veronica I am wondering what will go on with Sadhofi now? In Sadhana he was teaching us not to be attached to anyone and anything. No I feel how much I have been attached to him. This is the last lesson he is teaching me…
I feel with his family and especially with his little son Mael.
Anand means “Glückseligkeit”, complete happiness and felicity. May he be in his names meaning.

U Bonnie as I fondly used to call him will be sorely missed by everyone in the family. This news was shocking to all of us. I last communicated with him recently when he passed comments on my articles and send me a copy of his book on Fr Anthony Dmello of whom I am a big fan. U Bonnie was a brilliant mind and a great soul. People like him are in an exclusive league which heaven may be short of. May his soul rest in peace !

Yesterday, we all of the Sadhana-groupe in Fribourg, had a last ceremony of good-bye to Anand. He was our dear teacher and master on the way of Sadhana and we all had spent rich and bright moments with him. He will always remain in our hearts because he showed us love, joy of heart and humility. We feel like orphins now and the challange is to live what he had taught us. Love from all of us.
In meinem Herzen wirst du weiterleben.
