26 Oct. For a long time we thought that with social media and internet, we are finally free to express what we want to; no one can restrict us. Hence the curbs imposed on newspapers, television channels and radio stations would make no sense.
But the penetration of internet to most levels of society, has opened our eyes to the fact that internet and social media need to be “monitored”, and hence “controlled”! Sure, it is. Now it is our Election Commission of India which has realised what games politicians and their “supporters” can play with ‘free internet’, and have come up with some curbs.
The question is will they work?
