The case of the Buried Report- an obituary to journalism as we knew it

Now this is some news! In fact, only The Times of India can do it! I post from Mr John Thomas’ FB wall:

“19 March 2014, A month before the general elections, The Times of India swaddled in the saffron lotus of a political party with its Prime candidate towering above. The cost of the ad as per the TOI website is Rs 74,00,000 for Mumbai!
If a newspaper in one day receives an amount as large as this from a single political party in just one city, does it come with strings attached and can the paper afford to remain neutral?

Wah, kya sawal hai!”

So, what do you say – of the newspaper (if it can be called so) and the political party which prints such obscene ads? Any accountability issues?
