MS Communication at Aloysius Passes Major Test

5 May. Today I was at the Mangalore University to make a presentation to the University’s B.O.S. on our proposed M.S. Communication (or Masters in Mass Communication; call it Post Graduation in Mass Communication or Mass Media or improvised MCJ)…

There were 4 Chairpersons of Departments / Faculties from four different Universities, besides the local members of the BOS of the Mangalore University.

I made an impressive and persuasive presentation – a case for starting the PG in Communication at St Aloysius. Initially the members were not too sure; but once the presentation was over, and their doubts were cleared, they were mighty pleased with the purpose and bold initiative. ‘Probably, autonomous colleges can try these new and innovative things,’ opined a couple of them.

It was a very good meeting. What started with the VC’s panicky reaction, ended up giving us thumps up and a number of valuable suggestions for the improvement of the course. In the bargain, I ended up modifying quite a few things & making major changes in the syllabus and practices in our PG in Mass Communication – for the better (which I quietly desired so much, but could not do them due my absence from the College during the preparation of the Syllabus)!  I am elated about it. It’s a major academic victory; victory for our students who want to do somthing different, want to learn what they can’t in other colleges and universities.

Students, now the ball is in your course. We are ready with our preparations for the M.S. Communication course (call it MS Communication or Masters in Mass communication, for your convinience).

WElcome to you to SAC Media Department. Have a rocking time!
